It is iGuides Canada and AjaxPickering.ca's policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our website. This Privacy Policy applies to https://AjaxPickering.ca (hereinafter, "us", "we", or "https://AjaxPickering.ca"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting personally identifiable information you may provide us through the Website. We have adopted this privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") to explain what information may be collected on our Website, how we use this information, and under what circumstances we may disclose the information to third parties. This Privacy Policy applies only to information we collect through the Website and does not apply to our collection of information from other sources.
This Privacy Policy, together with the Terms and conditions posted on our Website, set forth the general rules and policies governing your use of our Website. Depending on your activities when visiting our Website, you may be required to agree to additional terms and conditions.
Children & Minimum Age
AjaxPickering.ca is intended for people aged 16 and older. You must be at least 16 to create an account or use any member feature. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. When you register we collect your date of birth solely to verify you meet this minimum age. If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 16, we will delete that account and its associated information. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at memberservices@ajaxpickering.ca.
To create an account we also require you to confirm your email address by clicking a verification link we send you; unconfirmed accounts are locked and are automatically deleted if not confirmed within 72 hours.
Retention And Account Deletion
You can close your account at any time from your account settings. When you do, your profile, posts, listings, recipes and photos are hidden from the site immediately, and your account is scheduled for permanent deletion 30 days later. During those 30 days you can sign in and cancel the deletion. We use this short window for two reasons: so a deletion made by mistake can be undone, and so that we can respond to a complaint, investigation or legal request about activity on the site before the records are gone.
If you would rather just step away for a while, you can deactivate instead. That hides everything and deletes nothing, and signing back in brings it all back.
After 30 days we permanently delete your content, your photos and your personal details. We keep a minimal record for 24 months confirming that an account existed, when it was created, when you agreed to our Terms, and any reports made about it. We keep this to defend legal claims within Ontario's two-year limitation period and to respond to lawful requests. It does not include your name, your posts, your messages or your photos.
Some records are kept longer, or indefinitely:
- Payment and advertising records are kept for 7 years as required by the Canada Revenue Agency. Personal details in them are removed; the transaction is not.
- Your email address stays on our do-not-contact list permanently. We cannot honour "never email me again" without remembering the address to suppress.
- Reviews you wrote about businesses, sellers and recipes stay on the site with your name removed, because other members rely on them and they are about someone else rather than about you.
- Messages you sent stay in the other person's inbox, shown as from a former member. Photos you sent are deleted.
- Events you organized stay listed so that people planning to attend are not left guessing, and we take over managing them. You can choose to cancel them instead when you close your account.
- If we are required to preserve records for an investigation or legal proceeding, deletion is paused until that ends. We will not use a hold for any other purpose.
Before you close your account you can download a copy of everything we hold about you, including your posts, messages, listings, reviews and sign-in history. You can also request a copy at any other time by writing to memberservices@ajaxpickering.ca.

- Advertising – measures views of local advertiser banners so we can report performance to them.
- Functional – remembers preferences such as region and layout for a smoother visit.
You are in control. When you first visit, a banner lets you accept all cookies, decline non-essential cookies, or choose exactly what to allow. You can change your choice at any time by selecting the cookie icon in the Echo toolbar on the edge of the page, or by using the button below. If you decline the Analytics or Advertising categories, we stop loading those scripts for you entirely. Your choice is saved for 12 months.
