About Sherry
As a former Pickering Trustee from 2003-2010, I championed important initiatives like the Heroes at Home Program with the Pickering Veterans’ Association, the Breakfast Program, and the creation of the Youth Health Centre at Dunbarton High School. My experience will allow me to hit the ground running to represent the interests of students and parents.

​​I have lived in Pickering since 2000, where my husband and I have raised our two children and our dog Echo. I also work in Pickering as a real estate agent and have previously worked in communications and marketing - skills that help me be an effective communicator.
I believe in life-long learning and completed my university degree at age 40.
I currently serve on the Pickering Heritage Committee and have previously volunteered with several local sports clubs and charities. I’m also an active member of our community who has spent many years as a hockey and tennis mom.
Platform
Pickering schools need a strong voice in times of change and challenge. With massive growth ahead, labour uncertainty brewing and families coping with the effects of inflation, I want to be that voice. As an experienced Trustee (2003-2010), I have a proven track-record and can hit the ground running.
All people deserve to be heard and valued. I will champion policies of inclusion and equity and reject intolerance in all its forms. I will listen and learn from others and take action to defend those who experience discrimination.
My priorities are student achievement, facility improvements and overall student experience. For students across Pickering to succeed they must have equitable access to a safe, clean and welcoming school environment and be provided with the needed technology, mental health supports, programming and extra-curricular activities.
In my first 100 days I will meet with Pickering’s 19 School Community Councils to hear their concerns and develop an action plan for the next four years. I will make it a priority to bring much needed repairs to Pickering’s older schools and to bring new schools to growing communities.
